Renewing your license and registration has always come with a reminder in the mail from Service NL. However, this is no longer the case.
As of April 30, 2018, Service NL no longer sends vehicle registration and driver’s license renewals in the mail. Vehicle renewal reminders can be now be received by email from Service NL. To make sure your email address is updated with Motor Registration Division, please visit the Service NL webpage.
If you don’t have an email address you will have to remember the dates and take the necessary action.
Your vehicle registration must be renewed annually. You may also sign up to receive renewal reminders by email. The registration expires the last day of the month shown on your registration document and on your vehicle stickers. Service NL advises residents to mark this date in their calendar yearly. Your registration can be renewed online, by mail or fax, or in person.
If you need extra help remembering when to renew your registration, you can sign up to change your renewal date to your month of birth. For example, if you were born in the month of November, your vehicle registration would expire on November 30. This request can be made in person at any Motor Registration Division office. For further information about this option, please call 1-877-636-6867.
