As we have all seen or read by now, Hurricane Matthew has hit a large number of communities in the province and brought heavy wind and rain to the island yesterday and overnight. Some parts of NL saw up to 150 mm of rain. The heavy rainfall has caused considerable sewer backup and flooding for residents in affected communities. Many areas have declared a State of Emergency and people have been asked to stay home as the storm damage is being assessed. We hope and pray that everyone stays safe.

Some people are wondering about government assistance. We can tell you that the Municipal Affairs Minister and the Minister responsible for Fire and Emergency Services, Eddie Joyce and Transportation and Works Minister Al Hawkins are in the process of assessing the damage. We will know within 48 hours whether the federal government will provide emergency assistance.

Reporting Claims

To report a claim, please call 1-855-726-8627. One of our local claims adjusters will provide emergency support, advice and start the claims process. We recommend that you document as much of your personal damage as possible so that we can share that with the insurance company.
